The following four photographers have been important witnesses to the history of Guatemala. They have made important contributions to a wide range of publications and productions, including 'The Echo of Pain of the Many'.

Puede una fotografía, o una colección de fotografías, por sí solas, 'capturar la complejidad' de un proceso político, o de un momento histórico? Esto podría ser un tema de discusión o debate.

Lo que si es cierto, en lo que respecta a la historia reciente de Guatemala y a nuestra experiencia en la lucha por la democracia, la justicia y el fin de la impunidad, es que cuatro fotógrafos han sido testigos importantes de estos "momentos". Sus registros fotográficos de ésa historia y de ésas luchas, constituyen una importante contribución a una amplia gama de publicaciones impresas, y a muchas producciones de cine y video, incluyendo 'El Eco.'

Estas imágenes ayudan a 'iluminar' e informar a un público más amplio la realidad de nuestra lucha, tanto en un momentos particular o como parte de un proceso más amplio en la búsqueda de la democracia y el cambio social.

Can a photograph, or collection of photographs, in themselves, ‘capture the complexity’ of a political process, or of a historical moment? This could be a subject for discussion or debate.

What is certain, in respect to the recent history of Guatemala and our experience of its struggles for democracy, justice and an end to impunity, four photographers have been important witnesses to these ‘moments’, and their photographic records of our history and struggles have made important contributions to a wide range of printed publications, and to many film and video productions including ‘The Echo.’

These images help both to illuminate and to inform a wider public as to the realities of our struggle, both at a particular moment in time, and as part of a wider process working for democracy and social change.
